Emmerson's Lemonade Stand benefiting MOAS

Join us this Saturday from 10am to 5pm at Clark Glass & Mirror (1630 Glenn Carrie Rd, Hull, Georgia 30646) for Emmerson's Lemonade Stand - a fantastic annual fundraiser from one of our youngest volunteers! She has all sorts of items that she'll be selling, many of them handmade by her, including her famous lemonade of course. We are also planning to have some of our adoptable shelter pets there ready to meet you and maybe even go home with you!

Emmerson has always had big dreams, and she usually achieves them. This year she's hoping to raise $2,000 to donate to us, and we know that if anyone can do it, she can. Please come support Emmerson, our 2018 Volunteer of the Year, as she works to raise money to help us save shelter pets!

Family Volunteer Day - Spring Cleaning Edition

While it already feels like summer, we still need some help with our Spring Cleaning! We have a LOT of projects that we need to get done at the shelter, so we are holding our next Family Volunteer Day on Sunday, June 9th from 2-4pm to try to tackle a bunch of these projects. We will have family-friendly tasks for everyone, although we do have some projects that could use some adult help with like cleaning our gutters and setting up some new metal shelving.

Show Your Pets Some Love!

Love is in the air this February with Valentine’s Day celebrations coming up, so why not learn how to show your pets some love too? Join us for this exciting, hands-on class taught by our Board President Sherrie Hines that’s all about ways to make treats, toys, puzzle games, and more for your pets! She’ll have a wide array of commercially available toys for both dogs and cats to give you some ideas of things you can buy (along with their pros, cons, and best uses), as well as tips on how to make your own toys out of recyclable items like boxes, paper towel and toilet paper rolls, fabric, egg cartons, newspapers, paper bags, plastic bottles, and more! In fact, if you’ll bring any items like that with you, you can use them (along with items we’ll have ready for you at the shelter) to make your own creations to take home with you to give to your own pets.

Stuff the Bus to Help Needy Pets with MOAS

  • Madison-Oglethorpe Animal Shelter (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

At MOAS we are constantly working to improve the lives of needy pets, whether that be shelter pets or animals in our community. We run a community pet food bank for families who need a little help to take care of their animals, especially those who have suddenly fallen on hard times. Our shelter animals themselves often have a diverse array of needs. Some of them have never seen a toy before in their lives; some need special foods to help them with weight loss, dental issues, diabetes, and urinary problems; and some just need a soft bed to lie on. Donations of new or gently used items from generous members of the community help us meet these needs and many more.

So we're hoping that you'll help us Stuff the Bus this holiday season to help make a difference in the lives of animals in our community. Yes - we have our large transport RV, and we want to fill it full with all sorts of donations, and we need your help to do it! Please bring any pet supplies in good condition to our shelter to help us fill it up until our Santa Paws event on December 8, 2018. That can include pet beds, crates, towels, sheets, cleaning supplies, pet food, treats, toys, rawhides, carriers, bowls, blankets, harnesses, leashes, collars, cat scratchers and trees, nail clippers, pet clothing, shredded paper, brushes, paper towels, litter pans and scoops, and more! What we need most at the moment is canned and dry kitten food, cat litter, and bleach (we go through a LOT of bleach!). Anything that we may not be able to use at the shelter can help our community food bank and our foster homes.
