MOAS' Low-Cost Vaccine clinics

Please read all registration instructions carefully.

Registration for December’s vaccine clinic on Sunday, December 15th is now open and will close on Friday, December 13th @ 12:00pm to allow staff to prepare.

If you have any questions, please contact the shelter for assistance at 706-795-2868 or email manager@moaspets.com.

See below for our vaccine clinic procedures!

Our vaccine clinics are typically held on the 3rd Sunday of each month from 11am to 3pm at our shelter, but holidays or vet availability sometimes necessitate a change. The next clinic date is always listed at the top of this page, so please be sure to check!

  • Our vaccine clinics are Appointment Only - No Exceptions!

Unfortunately, we cannot accept walk-ins as all of our appointments are tightly scheduled. Appointments will be scheduled in 3-minute increments for up to four animals. If you need services for more than four animals, you must register for a second time slot. You do not need to be a resident of Madison or Oglethorpe counties to utilize our vaccine clinics, our clinic services are open to everyone.

  • You must pre-pay for all of the services you need in order to get an appointment.

***After you pay you will immediately receive an email with instructions on how to select your appointment time.***

In order for our clinics to run smoothly, everything must be paid for online in advance. If you have questions about what your pet needs, please contact the shelter before you pay as you will not be able to make changes the day of. However, if you would like to buy heartworm preventatives after your pet’s negative heartworm test, we are happy to arrange that. If you need to add any other services, please email our staff at manager@moaspets.com.

  • Additional Requirements:

    • You will have a specific time slot for your appointment. Please know that even though you have an appointment, there may be a brief wait to see the veterinarian since our furry patients aren’t always as cooperative as we’d like. But we will see everyone as quickly as possible as scheduled and in the order that they have arrived.

    • You must arrive during your allotted time slot to receive service. Those who arrive early or late will be worked in when and if possible but may experience a significant wait due to tight scheduling.

    • All dogs must be on a leash with a tight collar or harness to prevent accidental escapes (yes, it happens!), and all cats must be in a carrier - no exceptions. Additionally, as of July 6, 2023, your dog(s) will also be required to wear a separate slip lead as a backup leash for safety reasons to prevent dogs from accidentally slipping out of their collars.

    • If your pet is sick or has been exposed to a contagious disease (i.e., your pet has parvo, kennel cough, or ringworm; is running a fever; or is currently being treated with antibiotics), your pet CANNOT be treated at our vaccine clinic for the safety of your pet, other animals coming to the clinic, and our shelter animals. If any of these are true, please contact our staff at manager@moaspets.com immediately to cancel your appointment.

    • If your pet(s) is aggressive with humans or other animals such that they will require additional time - for example, your dog cannot be outside on a leash around other animals or your dog must wear a muzzle to be treated - please contact our staff in advance at manager@moaspets.com so that we can make any necessary arrangements to have sufficient time to treat your animal(s). You may need to have more than one appointment time slot, especially if you have multiple aggressive animals. We understand that not all pets do well around other pets or do well with people they do not know, so contacting us in advance can help us plan to keep everyone safe. If your dog requires a muzzle, please bring one with you if you can. If an animal is too aggressive to receive treatment, we reserve the right to refuse to treat any animal in order to protect our staff and ensure the safety of your animal. Some animals may need to seek treatment at a standard veterinary practice where they can receive medication for sedation prior to coming in for an office visit.

  • Scheduling Your Appointment:

    • First, decide what vaccines your pet(s) need. Then select each item below and pay online.

    • Second, once you’ve paid, you will immediately receive a confirmation email with a link to schedule your own appointment. PLEASE schedule your appointment as soon as you pay, if you delay this step you create more work last minute work for our staff. Double check the spelling of your email for any typos to make sure you get your confirmation email. If you do not receive that email, please check your SPAM folder and then email boardpresident@moaspets.com for assistance. Please be aware that if you use Windstream for your email, it often identifies emails from MOAS as SPAM and actually rejects our emails entirely - it doesn’t even send it to your SPAM folder. As a result, we strongly encourage you to use a non-Windstream email address when you register so that we can communicate with you. Please also make sure you correctly type your email address when you order your vaccines, as that will also keep you from getting your confirmation email.

    • Appointments are first-come, first-served, so you’ll want to sign up early. As you’re scheduling your appointment, you should schedule yourself for one appointment only if you’re bringing 1-4 pets to the clinic. If you are bringing more than 4 pets, you should schedule them for two appointments. During your scheduling, you’ll be asked to fill out a form with information for each of your pets. Make sure that you fill out every field for each pet as we must have complete information on each of your pets to properly record their vaccines. Please do NOT put “I don’t know” or “NA” when answering the questions; just give us your best guess/estimate.

  • What to Expect At Our Clinic:

    • On the day of the clinic, please arrive as close as possible to your scheduled appointment time. People who arrive very early or late may have to wait until we can work you in. That said, if you have one of the last appointments for the day, please do not be late. Our veterinarian volunteers his time and leaves promptly at the end of the clinic or after the last schedule patient is seen. If you arrive late to your appointment, you may not be able to receive treatment.

    • When you arrive, you will check in with our volunteers at the start of our parking lot. They will give you a laminated yellow card with your appointment number to put on your windshield. They will then direct you to one of the three lanes in front of you. A different volunteer will then check you in and review the services that you paid for. Please let our volunteer know if what they review with you is incorrect or not what you expected/wanted.

    • As of July 6, 2023, you will be given a separate slip lead to put on your dog(s) as a backup leash for safety reasons to prevent dogs from accidentally slipping out of their collars.

    • After which, you will wait with your animal(s) in your car until directed by staff or volunteers to bring your animal(s) to the clinic door. You will give your animal(s) to staff at the clinic door and wait outside while they receive their vaccinations. It usually just takes a few minutes before your animal is brought out and then you’re free to leave.

    • If you are getting heartworm testing or FIV/FeLV testing, you can choose to either wait for your test results or have them emailed to you later.

  • Our Cancellation/No Show Policy (as of 5/7/22):

If you do NOT show for your appointment and/or do not cancel by 11 am on the day before the clinic, we cannot provide a full refund as you will be taking a vaccination slot that we cannot fill. Instead, we will refund you all of your fees except a $25 cancellation fee. If you purchased services for less than $25, then you’ll receive a refund of 50% of your paid fees. Cancellations received prior to 11am the day before the clinic will receive a full refund. To cancel please email director@moaspets.com.

  • You can also order medications through our online pharmacy!

After your pet has been seen by our vet and/or been tested, particularly for heartworm testing, your pet may be eligible to receive certain prescription. Learn more here.
