Welcome foster parents!

We hope you’ll enjoy this private space for information on our foster program. As we are currently short-staffed at the shelter, I am going to be assisting with some aspects of foster management, particularly updating our website and some future off-site adoption events and photo opportunities that we’re planning.

We are so thankful for your efforts to help us fulfill our mission to save as many animals as possible, and you play a HUGE role in everything that we’re doing. If you have any questions, suggestions, or concerns, please email me (Sherrie Hines) at shines@moaspets.com.

You should also begin receiving emails from our Foster Listserv. If you do not receive those emails, please check your SPAM folder or email us so that we can get you set up!

Animals Currently In Need of Foster Homes:

Cats/Kittens:

  • We have a large number of cats and kittens that could desperately use a foster home just to help us make space.

  • We also have a number of cats and kittens that are recovering from ringworm. If you have a good isolation space and are willing to treat them in your home, they’ll recover much more quickly in a less stressful environment. Speak with staff if you’re interested in helping out one of these kitties!

Dogs/Puppies:

  • We have a number of scared pups that were abandoned in Oglethorpe County and truly need a foster home to help them adjust to have a chance. If you have space in your home, please let us know!

Give Us an Update About Your Foster Pet!

These updates are so important in helping your foster pet(s) find their forever home! You can send us updates as often as you want - every week would be awesome! - as the more we can post about your foster and the more information we can provide to adopters, the more likely they are to want to meet and adopt your pet.

(Please fill out the form below separately for each pet if possible)

Foster Resources:

We can’t thank you all enough for all of your help, and so we want to make it easy for you to find the information you need. Below are a list of resources that we think will be of help (with more to come!). If you can think of anything else to add, please email Sherrie at boardpresident@moaspets.com, and she’ll get it added!

MOAS Resources:

  • Is your foster sick? Do you need to pick up additional meds?

  • Does your foster still need to be spayed/neutered?

  • Do you need supplies for your foster pet?

  • Interested in getting a new foster?

Online Resources:

  • Kitten Lady has tons of information on how to take care of bottle babies and young kittens! We highly recommend her book Tiny But Mighty for all of our kitten foster parents!
