Our low-cost vaccine clinics are normally offered on the 3rd Sunday of every month. Due to COVID-19, our clinics have been cancelled for the past few months. But we are thrilled to be bringing them back starting July 19th. However, things will be a bit different for now as we work to make sure that everyone involved is kept as safe as possible in light of the growing cases of COVID-19. Here are some of the key changes that we’ll be making for the time being:
The vaccine clinic is Appointment Only - No Exceptions!
Unfortunately, we cannot accept walk-ins at this time as we must carefully control the number of people who are coming in and out of our clinic for everyone’s safety. Appointments will be scheduled in small groups in 15 minute blocks from 11am to 3pm on the day of the clinic. To be clear, there won’t be any appointments scheduled outside of our monthly vaccine clinics. As always, you do not have to be a resident of Madison or Oglethorpe counties to use any of our clinics.
You must pre-pay for all of the services you need in order to get an appointment.
To limit the spread of COVID-19, we’re requiring that everything be paid for in advance online. This will not only avoid human contact that otherwise would be necessary to process payments, but it will also allow us to fill out all of your paperwork in advance, which will get your pets in and out of the clinic much faster. If you have questions about what your pet needs, please contact the shelter before you pay as you will not be able to make changes the day of.
Be aware that payments are non-refundable unless you cancel by 11:00 am on Saturday, July 18th.
If you need multiple vaccines (for example, two rabies vaccines for two different pets), add each to your cart one at a time and fill out a separate form for each pet. We must have complete information on each pet to properly record their vaccines.
Clinic services will be limited initially.
In order to make sure that everyone is able to get the most essential services and to ensure that the clinic moves as quickly as possible, we will only be offering vaccines and microchips. We will not be offering heartworm tests, flea medications, dewormer, FeLV/FIV tests, or nail trims at this time, but we will update this page when we are able to offer those services again, which hopefully will be soon.
Strict requirements will be enforced for the safety of everyone involved, including the following:
Everyone will be required to wear masks.
You will be given a specific time slot for your appointment. Please know that even though you have an appointment, there may be a brief wait to see the veterinarian since our furry patients aren’t always as cooperative as we’d like. But we will see everyone as quickly as possible as scheduled and in the order that they have arrived.
You must arrive during your allotted time slot to receive service. Those who arrive late will be worked in when and if possible but may experience a significant wait due to tight scheduling.
All dogs must be on a leash, and all cats must be in a carrier - no exceptions. For everyone’s safety, including your pet’s, no staff or volunteers will come closer than six feet to your vehicle.
Please do not bring children or other individuals with you who are not absolutely necessary to handle your pet(s) so that we can limit your potential exposure and ours.
How does it work?
First, decide what vaccines your pet(s) need. Then select each item below and pay online.
Second, once you’ve paid, we will reach out to you to set up an appointment via email. Appointments are first come, first served, and given the high interest we’ve had in our clinics, it is likely that they will sell out. Sign up early to guarantee your spot in this month’s clinic!
On the day of the clinic, you will be checked in while in your car upon arrival. After which, you will wait with your animal(s) in your car. No one will be allowed inside of the building for the vaccine clinic. When you registered, you would have been given a number. When the veterinarian is ready to see you and your animal(s), a staff member or volunteer will raise a sign with your number and call your number for you to bring your animal(s) to the clinic door. You will give your animal(s) to staff at the clinic door and wait outside while they receive their vaccinations.
If we do not sell out earlier, appointments must be made by 5:00pm on Saturday, July 18, 2020.
Unfortunately, we won’t be able to offer same-day appointments because all of your paperwork must be filled out well in advance for us to run this clinic in the most efficient and safe manner possible. If you miss the deadline to register for this clinic, check back here afterwards for information on how to register for our next ones.
Rabies is an incurable, fatal disease for both pets and people, and as a result, rabies vaccinations are required by state law. Please make sure your pet is current for your safety and theirs!
